INTRODUCTION TO BEAM THEORY APPLICATION

Beam theory aids in structural analysis of a variety of things, from building supports, to lever arms and shafts, etc. In an application to aerospace concepts, beam theory can be used to model rotor blades, wings, and fuselages as thin-walled beams.
It is especially important to be able to predict maximum deflections, stresses, and strains of beams before the structure fails. Thus, it is an important tool for designing beam-like structures or structure that make use of beams.
