CARTESIAN COORDINATE EXAMPLES
Below are some basic examples that should solidify the concepts explained in the Theory section.
The two-dimensional Cartesian axis system in Fig. 1↓ illustrates how to draw infinite (as denoted by the arrows at the ends of the line) at x = 4 and another at y = − 2.
The two-dimensional Cartesian axis system in Fig. 2↓ illustrates a point located at x = 5 and y = 3 in one figure, while the other shows a point at x = − 3 and y = 2. The dashed lines illustrate how to determine the location of the point with respect to the axis.
The next plot (Fig. 3↓) illustrates points in a three-dimensional Cartesian axis system. Once again the dashed lines illustrate how to determine the location of the point with respect to the axis.
