INTERPOLATION APPLICATIONS
Well-known simulation codes include FUN3D and OVERFLOW, ARC2D, CFL3D, and XFOIL to name a few. These codes are used on fixed-wing vehicle, rotary-wing vehicle, launch vehicle, automotive, wind energy, and naval applications.
These codes use the interpolations discusses in this section in algorithms, as can be seen in any papers using these and other similar codes. Additional important applications of interpolation are the interpolation of CFD pressures to the same locations where experimental pressures are taken for direct comparison. Finally, if a very coarse description of an airfoil or wing is given, the the surface must be accurately interpolated in order to generate a smooth surface grid.
