APPLICATIONS
The cylindrical coordinate system is used to define coordinate systems in Aerospace Engineering, but it is perhaps not as widely used as the Cartesian system. Use of this coordinate system can be seen in examples and demonstrations in the dynamics (acceleration) sections.
It is clearly the coordinate system of choice for some rotorcraft, propeller and wind energy applications where the rotating blades and their wakes result in a helical or other motion that can described in cylindrical coordinates.
