The spherical coordinate system is used to define coordinate systems in Aerospace Engineering, but it is perhaps the least used of the three (Cartesian, cylindrical, spherical). Use of them can be seen in examples and demonstrations in the dynamics (acceleration) sections.

It is clearly the coordinate system of choice for some planetary computations, such satellite orbits.
